Synopsis:

Juliette hasn’t touched anyone in exactly 264 days.

The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette’s touch is fatal. As long as she doesn’t hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don’t fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.

The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war– and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she’s exactly what they need right now.

Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.

My rating: ★★★★★

What did I think about this book?? Oh, I don't know...I freakin' LOVED it! This has definitely become one of my favoritest books ever (yeah, I know that's not a word)!

Even though I had my doubts about him and the beginning, I loved Adam! *swoons* He is just SO sweet and wonderful and swoonworthy!

I was also suspicious of Kenji...I mean, could they really trust him? But in the end I made up my mind about him. Not telling you which way I'm leaning though (as to not spoil anything), evil me, heh.

And then there's Warner...man I just wish I could punch him in the face! I seriously hated his guts (and everything else about him!) He just frustrated me and I thought he was a total jerk-face! I know of some girls who actually liked him...but I just don't see it. Sure he was nice to Juliette sometimes, but...I still don't like him. But I was told that you feel more fond of him in Destroy Me, which kinda worries me!

And Juliette, well, she is just awesome! Because she's been isolated for so long she isn't the most savvy in communicating with other humans. But man, her character development? Crazy awesome, I tell ya! The author did such an amazing job with her character development, that if you were to read a part of the book from the beginning and another part from the end, you'd think they were two totally different people! Towards the end, she just becomes a brave young lady! Juliette is just a very likable character, you cant help but empathize with her. And her ability? SO cool (is that morbid of me to think??)

I adored the writing style of the book! It was different, almost...poetic! As the story progresses and Juliette's character develops, the writing style changes too. It SO cool!

I really liked the ending, and not just because of that cool organization (whose I cannot remember) we are introduced to, but it was just...not depressing! As opposed other dystopian novels I have read that end on a rather depressing note. Sad endings suck.

I loved the characters, I loved the writing, I loved the concept, and the story was just beautiful! It was just so well written and thought out, that there is seriously nothing that I didn't like (maybe except for maybe Warner, whom I was told I will change my mind about later...yikes!)

So, do I recommend this book? Hell yeah! I cannot wait for more of Juliette and Adam!

  1. I think you're one of the few who didn't like Warner. :)
In my case, it was the other way around. I couldn't stand Adam. I don't know why... I find Warner more complex and intriguing. I haven't read "Destroy Me" yet, but I can't wait to get to it. I really liked how the first book ended and I'm looking forward to meeting the other characters with super powers.

But even though I dislike Warner, I have to agree with you: he *is* quite intriguing. I am actually looking forward to finding out more about him and see what the heck his deal is!
